Broomhill Methodist Church
Mission Statement
(There is a hymn based upon the words of this Mission Statement)
As Christians, we believe that the Church exists to celebrate God’s creative and liberating love and power, in worship, learning and mission in the world. Together, we are called to share and deepen our understanding of the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth as encountered primarily in the Bible. We commit ourselves to the following aims:
- To worship together in ways which are rooted in everyday life, sharing and valuing each person’s contribution and spirituality.
- To be a welcoming and inclusive community, eager to receive and learn from the talents, insights and experiences of others.
- To explore and witness to our faith together, with Christians (especially through ‘Churches Together in Broomhill’) and with other people.
- To offer our building as a resource for the local community, thereby witnessing to God’s presence and activity in daily life.
- To help one another to respond to needs and opportunities wherever they arise.
- To provide space and support for students in partnership with the University Chaplaincy.
We pledge ourselves to undertake at each Annual Church Meeting a review of this statement, our commitment to it and the programme of action based upon it.
